Family Support

  • cs2

Family support groups are a great way to meet others for practical and emotional support. Most support groups are set up and run by parents and carers of people with additional needs.

The Trust firmly believes that families and significant others play a vital role in the continuing care of their loved ones and we very much welcome their involvement and input. After all, they have entrusted us with their most precious possession.

We are very proud of our family support group “Carers and Sharers” which is currently only available to families whose sons or daughters live here or access any of the Trust’s facilities.

 We offer:

  • friendship
  • opportunities to socialise and meet other people in a similar position
  • information and advice
  • emotional and moral support
  • confidentiality
  • always a listening ear
  • a regular meeting place
  • siblings very welcome

 Topics we have discussed are:

  • Benefits
  • Wills and Trusts
  • Future Projects at The Orchard Trust
  • End of Life Information
  • Carers Gloucestershire
  • Making Activities Matter
  • Person Centred Planning and Approach

All meetings are on Friday afternoon's at The Lodge, Upper Stowfield from 2 - 4pm and they are as follows:
  • 18th May 2018
  • 17th August 2018
  • 16th November 2018

All parents/carers/family members of people who live and attend any of the Orchard Trust services are most welcome to join us.

  • Residents from a local care home visited the Orchard Trust activity park and smallholding site.  They tried out the park equipment and met some of the animals.  It is fantastic to see a range of people using the activity park and getting so much out of it.  We welcome anyone to come and visit the site and use the equipment, we just ask that you please call Phill or George on 01594 861359 to let them know you are coming.
