1 & 2 The Orchards

No. 1 and 2 The Orchards are situated in a very scenic and secluded location on the outskirts of the village of Lydbrook, above the Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The homes are semi detached stone cottage residences, set on the edge of a smallholding and near The Learning Centre and Swim Gym. 

 

No. 1 The Orchards was opened in 1989 and provides a comfortable home for three adults with learning disabilities. One bedroom is adapted to accommodate someone who may have additional physical disabilities.

No. 2 The Orchards has just undergone a refurbishment to a very high standard and provides accommodation for three adults with learning disabilities.

The homes provide a very homely environment, where everyone has the opportunity to develop their skills and independence and to appreciate the needs and values of others.

Everyone is encouraged to take an active part in the running of the homes. Each person has their own person centred plan and staff work closely with individuals to establish this plan which provides for their immediate needs and ongoing development, thus enabling them to live successfully within their community. If required, additional support comes from allied professionals from the local Community Learning Disability Team.

The homes have direct access to The Smallholding, Learning Centre and Swim Gym, together with the local Further Education College. A diverse range of social and leisure activities is followed, including fishing, visits to pubs, cinema, theatres, swimming, cycling and places of worship.
